Details below of two regular weekend youth projects: NYJO (Big Band Jazz for under 25s) and DreamArts (acting, singing, and dancing for 8-19 year olds).

National Youth Jazz Orchestra @ Cockpit Theatre

If you are under 25 and want to play Big Band Jazz, and you think you are ready to rehearse with NYJO, just come along (you can ring first if you wish, on 020 8863 2717). There are no auditions and no fees to pay.

  • NYJO 2 will probably be the starting point for most people, from 10am-1pm. Rehearsed by Paul Eshelby or Steve Titchener.

  • NYJO 1 meets from 10.30am-2pm. Rehearsed by Mark Armstrong or Bill Ashton MBE.

  • Singers work with the vocal coach and then meet up to rehearse with the band.

We have parts for trumpet, saxophone, trombone, French horn, flute, piano, bass, guitar, drums, percussion, and vocals.
